Compensation for Phase Angle Errors
When used for pulse work, the mutual inductance between the potential leads and the current path in the shunt can be set to compensate for the phase angle between the current in the shunt and the voltage between the potential points. The self inductance of the current through the shunt depends on the arrangement of the bus bars. If the return bus bar is made to follow the contours of the shunt and is kept close to it, the value can be kept to 0.01mH or less. Construction
The construction of the type 2276 air cooled shunts is similar to the type 4638 but they are usually supplied in a steel lifting frame to facilitate transporting them without distortion. They are not supplied on a base nor fitted with a protecting cover.
